Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few of our most frequently asked questions. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you do not see your question here.

  1. Do I need to tell the other party about mediation?

Yes. Mediation only works when both parties agree to come to mediation in good faith. In "good faith" means you are willing to at least listen to the other party, even if you do not agree.

   2. Do I need a lawyer for mediation?

No. You do not need to have a lawyer for mediation or even to get divorced or file for child custody. You are always welcome to have a lawyer review any documents or agreements created in mediation or even have them attend mediation with you.

   3. Are you a lawyer? Does this mean you are my
      lawyer?

Yes. I am a lawyer. However, being a mediator means I am neutral and, therefore, cannot represent either party or provide legal advice. Using me for mediation does not establish an attorney-client relationship. However, you are welcome to seek out a different lawyer and ask them for legal advice.

   4. Do you help with Court documents?

Yes. I have several flat fee service bundles where I conduct several mediations and help draft all paperwork needed for your divorce or child custody case. The only thing I am unable to do is actually file the paperwork as I cannot be listed as the attorney of record for either party.
